Tourism
in the Greenstone Region
The Greenstone Region has something for all the visitors to our beautiful
area, from rugged wilderness adventure to top quality accommodations
and events.
Enjoy clean air, pristine lakes and rivers and a diverse collection
of wild life and plant life.
People from around the world travel to Northern Manitoba for the spectacular
"Northern Lights" , an array of vivid colors on the night sky.
Travellers arriving in Flin
Flon via Manitoba Highway 10 are treated to spectacular scenery
in many places as sheer rock rises up alongside a road blasted through
solid bedrock.
There are other rock based challenges: Flin Flonnians must bolt their
utility poles to the bedrock instead of digging holes. And somehow they
create lush lawns on top of bare rock. But, every day brings a new challenge
to the people who live in "The City Built on the Rocks."
Cranberry
Portage has much to offer the traveller. If you are the energetic
type, canoeing the famous Grass River Route may be for you, many outback
camping sites on the lakes are marked and ready for use.
Cranberry Portage offers two established and maintained nature trails
suitable for hiking, running and mountain biking.
Fishermen will find a wide variety of fish in both Lake Athapapuskow
and the Cranberry/Elbow Lake Chain. Many other lakes in the area are
accessible by vehicle in only minutes. Lodges in the area also offer
hunting trips and remote fishing trips.
Fishing enthusiasts making a visit to
Sherridon
will find a wide variety of fish in Kississing Lake and surrounding
lakes. These lakes are known for their trout, northern pike and walleye.
Sherridon has the oldest building in the surrounding area The Cambrian
Hotel was built in the early 1900's and is still in operation today.
Come visit Sherridon and see what it has to offer.
Snow Lake
is a small industrial mining community situated half way between Thompson
and The Pas, 35 kilometres north highway #392. Snow Lake offers many
scenic attractions which make a visit here truly an "Outdoor Experience"
well worth remembering.
Come north and enjoy all this plus our many cultural events, local festivals,
and events.
